TEENAGE - a beautiful chaos
Wow the third post, can’t believe
that. I didn’t know I would be writing this often. But well what do you know.
You gotta do what you gotta do. So here it goes.
TEENAGE- happening, adventurous,
educative, confusing, beautiful, chaos. The last two words according to me
describes teenage the best, well atleast my teenage. I believe if it’s not
chaos it’s not teenage. It’s a ride full of new experiences and major decisions
which affect our life (which we realise later). A lot goes on in teenage. A lot
of impractical feelings which we believe to be true but later realise aren’t. A
lot of amazing (sometimes not so amazing) new experiences that will last a
lifetime. Learning the concept of temporary friends which feel permanent
initially but then eventually fade out. Planning your life ahead but later
realising that plans almost never work out. Seeing plans fail but still not
stopping yourself from planning your life ahead. Doing random stuff to impress
a girl/boy and later realising how stupid it was. Getting thrill from doing
things which parents advise not to do. Being rebellious towards parents and
challenging their thoughts. Developing the habit of going out daily with
friends and making places your “adda” (spot for hanging out everyday). Getting
confused about your career options. Not caring about that confusion after an
hour. Trying to conquer your fears and pretending to be fearless in front of
others just to show you have grown up. Hoping to grow up as soon as possible so
that you can be independent. All of this and maybe more. CHAOS right? And it is
meant to be that way.
The irony of life which everyone
is familiar with is you always want to grow older when you are a teen but once
you do get old you will find the teenage better. And you will wish if you
become a teen now you will not do all the stupidity that you did in your
teenage. But that’s just taking the fun out of it. If everything is done
sensibly in teenage then you won’t learn anything. Its human nature that we
learn things mostly by our mistakes. Sometimes we intentionally do mistakes and
not even regret them.
I still remember bunking the
school for the very first time with a friend (temporary friend of teenage). We
even forged a gate pass to get out of the school and duplicated the signature
of our class teacher who was absent that day to watch an amazing movie in a
different city than our school. The movie was “the avatar”. Front row middle
corner seats. I still remember it because it was the best 3D movie
I have ever
seen and it was one of the craziest things I did in my school time.
Now if I see any teenage that I
know do something like this in her or his school time, I would advise them
against it but if they tell me after doing so, I’ll probably chuckle and warn
them. I still remember my father telling me his stories when he used to watch
night shows in his teenage. At his time, the theatres had just one audi or
hall. And the movie used to run in 3-hour intervals. He still smilingly tells
us all his stories of the late-night shows (12am to 3am) that he used to go for
and get scolded from my baba(grandfather) and yet advises us against doing so.
Because that’s what happens when you grow up. You become more sensible and try
to pass that on to your younger ones. But you will always remember what you did
in your teenage because of the sheer thrill and the excitement you experienced.
Well the bottom line is, teenage
is a confused age, yes! It’s a beautiful chaos as I like to call it. And it is
meant to be that! Embrace it and enjoy it till it lasts because the memories of
teenage are one of the very few things that will stay with you forever. So even
if you grow old, don’t let that little teenage spark die inside you. Because
you may still need to make some scary and risky decisions when you get old, and
only that little teenage spirit will give you the courage to do so.
So, take risks, sometimes it’s all you need to do to make you feel alive. AND LIVE A LITTLE.
