A Love, the first of its kind
And then there you were
With a wet nose and an apprehensive, wobbly run
Coming to me as though to rescue me
From what was to come in the next three days
Since then you've never let me be alone
For the best part of the last eight years
Walking up to me on my saddest days and yours
With the same mud-ridden paws
Eyes so bright nobody could tell your blindness
Inspiring us every day with your resilience
I'll forever hold on to those t-shirts, sheets and spaces
That held your fur, pep, and presence
And I'll forever carry with me the void of your absence
I’m sorry for clipping those nails
giving you baths
balming your paws
I’m ever so grateful for the angel that you were despite your resentment thus
I continue to weave scenarios with you
For I’m happier with you on my happiest days
Brighter with you on my gloomiest days
With more love than regrets
And more Chimken than Chia seeds
Not all pet parents can express their thoughts, but this sure feels real
